Lates Gallery Social Sculpture: GRL. - Infinite Space

OPENING NIGHT: SATURDAY 30TH NOV
CLOSING PARTY: FRIDAY 6TH DEC

For the penultimate leg of our Social Sculpture series - highlighting art-groups from within the Foodhall community - we are excited to announce GRL. will be taking the reins for Infinite Space. They are creating a special exhibition reflecting on their collective’s progress. In their words:

“Influenced by the work of artist Rachael Kidd, Infinite Space explores ‘taking up space’: how our identities are articulated through physical and digital platforms. Working within phenomenological theory, what it is to be and to experience, to see as someone who is so rarely ‘seen’, the reflective structures allow for a repetition of the image, transforming the mirror from narcissistic symbol to a radical reclamation of the self.”

Allowing for a dialogue to be opened up, mixes provided by GRL. members will be presented, illustrating how collectives such as theirs allow for the assertion of an unapologetic presence within a male-dominated music scene; transforming the ideas of Infinite Space from purely theoretical to practically possible.

The exhibition opening night - Saturday 30th - will be an opportunity to meet the collective and their collaborators and to see the artwork unveiled in a relaxed and friendly setting. 7pm-9pm, BYOB.

Running throughout the week, the exhibition will culminate in a special closing party on Friday 6th, featuring live music and visuals from GRL. 7pm-12pm, BYOB.
