Plates are our evening dinner parties hosted by the community, for the community. Usually these take place on a Wednesday evening and are hosted in a ready steady cook style using would be wasted food collected from supermarkets or brought by the community group. This relies on the creativity of the people cooking.

Members of Sheffield’s various collectives, societies, arts and community organisations can use the space and facilities helping them to throw a dinner party for their whole neighbourhood. This helps communities to share culture with food, interact and build ideas together. Often this is accompanied by some kind of activity - such as a show, talk, lecture or other activity. Over time the platform aims to give a voice to every group or culture in the city to express themselves.

The plates platform runs on a suggested donation basis and any funds generated support Foodhall’s core costs. Nobody is ever turned away due to lack of funds.
